Over 70,000 documented items from the Tatoi Collections, spanning 102 years, are now accessible to the public via a new website, offering a unique glimpse into Greece’s royal heritage.

A Century of History
Launched by the Ministry of Culture, the new portal (https://tatoicollections.culture.gov.gr/) allows visitors to explore the Tatoi Collections, showcasing rare works of art, porcelain, statues, priceless garments, carpets, military items, royal medals, and precious books. These items reveal the stories of Greece’s royal past and its cultural, artistic, and political history.
The project “Tatoi Collections: Unlocking Material Culture and a Century of History,” funded with 1.12 million euros, started in 2022 and will be completed in October 2025. It involves the digitization of the royal estate’s movable monuments and offers a rare multi-layered view of 19th- and 20th-century European and Greek history.
Highlights Include:
- Queen Olga’s religious artifacts and her famous Delphos dress by Mariano Fortuny.
- A portable icon depicting Saint Stephen from the royal family’s ecclesiastical collection.
- Items such as furniture, jewelry, uniforms, and personal mementos that paint a vivid picture of daily life and history.
A New Chapter for Tatoi Estate
The digitization initiative follows years of work and preservation efforts, aiming to make the Tatoi Estate a cultural and educational hub. This project is part of a broader effort, involving EU funds and private donations, to restore and promote the estate, making it a public green space for cultural activities and historical remembrance.
Now, the treasures of Tatoi, once a private royal domain, are available to anyone, offering new insights into Greece’s rich cultural heritage.
